I have been eating here on a pretty regular basis in the past few months, espeially for breakfast. I like the casual environment, the food ranges from good to great (get the pancackes, or the huevos con pollo [order it with a flour tortilla]). The prices are not cheap but reasonable (only thing that keeps me from giving it 5 stars) and the service is efficient. Consistent restaurant, I don't think you'll be disappointed...

You know what makes good food taste better? Great service! And that's exactly what I got today.
I was at Jinky's Cafe this afternoon with a large group of women for brunch. I had a delicious cobb salad, but the person sitting across from me had pancakes. As I stuck the fork with lettuce, avocado, chicken, egg, etc. in my mouth, I wished it was carbs. Specifically, in the form of the fluffy buttermilk pancakes dripping with syrup that was on a friends plate (can you tell I love bread/ carbs??!!).
The food was good, and the service was even better. Chris was the waiter for our tables, and he was fantastic. He was personable, funny, and quite charming.

This really is a cute place to come and dine at with friends or family members. The service was excellent and the place was bright and clean.
I ordered a hot chocolate and asked if it was made with milk or water and was reassured that it was made with milk. When it arrived, I had to take a photo of this magnificent creation and post it on yelp. It was just okay but could have used a bit more milk and a lot more cocoa for flavoring. It wasn't bad but needed a bit more flavor to quench my taste buds.
We ordered the kids pancake breakfast which was super cute because the pancake was shaped like Mickey Mouse. Awwwww....My niece (who is only two years old) loved it and as long as she was happy, I was happy! Unhappy toddlers can do some serious damage to your eardrums!
I ordered a Belgian Waffle and some turkey bacon. The bacon was perfect, not greasy at all. The waffle was good but not the best that I've ever had.
Overall, I really liked this place and was happy with my experience. However, I had this nagging voice in the back of my mind telling me that there could have been a bit more flavoring in the hot cocoa and waffle.
I definitely think that Jinky's is a place that you should check out for yourself and form your own opinion of this establishment. I'm not in the Santa Monica area very often but I will come back to this place again because it's definitely worth another try. It's conveniently located just down the street from the Santa Monica Pier so it's actually in a prime location.

Came here for breakfast a few times. Service was pretty fast, and we got seated quickly. Got the huevos con pollo with chili, nothing special to rave about and pretty standard fare. Pricing is ok, portions are pretty decent. An ok breakfast joint, although nothing to keep me from trying someplace else.

Great food for the money. The menu is huge, and I've never had anything I didn't like. Good for big groups too.

Cute little brunch place near the beach and 3rd street promenade. Came here on a Monday with a group of 6. There was no wait, and we were seated promptly. The food was very good, but -1 star for the price, it was a little overpriced for what they serve. But what can you expect for a place close to the beach and shopping?
I got the 2+2+2, with the flaky French toast. The French toast was amazing. That was worth the extra $1. I just wish that you didn't have to pay an extra $1 for real maple syrup. Ordered the bacon extra crispy. My husband got the Santa Fe omelette, and it was huge. It came with 2 corn tortillas, pea guacamole, and sour cream. I tried the pea guacamole and it was so interesting! It tasted slightly different from regular guacamole and had a little kick to it. My dad got the all American sandwich, and again the serving was huge.
Overall my family enjoyed our breakfast. The service was very good. The waitress came to check on us frequently and made sure our coffee pot was always full. Looking forward to coming here again next time we visit Santa Monica.

Great location just near 3rd shops. Great value breakfast - massive menu so takes a while to choose what you want. Quick service and if on a budget good value for money. Decor and atmosphere is typical diner.

Always fast and friendly service. I have had breakfast here: omelettes, which come with their country potatoes, which I love love love. I have had salads, which are just ok and then I have had their chili. They are always willing to give you samples, and that's always nice. It's a casual setting, nothing fancy, but consistently tasty.

The breakfast food here is extremely good. The egg whites scrambled around fresh ingredients with wheat toast are to die for. The fun beach themed interior is great and the staff are nice. Reminded me of San Diego beach culture mostly.

Working just down the street from here, this is one of my frequent lunch spots. I love the gourmet sausage and eggs breakfast dish, pesto chicken sandwich and quinoa salad. Great service, great food and great feel!

Smashed pea Guacamole is really a taste treat, order the quesadilla and you'll get fresh salsa and the smashed pea!

Delicious. I'd come back.

Hidden treasure people, hidden treasure.
After a 40-minute ride in traffic, followed by a drive through two full parking lots, I (finally) made it to Jinky's Cafe on 2nd street and Broadway in Santa Monica, California. Fortunately for the sake of the restaurant (and the review) we didn't have to wait in line upon entering. Based on the ambiance of the restaurant and the diversity in the menu, I had a feeling breakfast would be worth the trek. Well, not only was I right, I was very pleasantly surprised with the deliciousness of this entire meal.
The photo itself (see above) pretty much speaks for the decor of the restaurant, as well as the creativity in the menu. According to the blurb at the beginning of the menu (see below), the food is a "fusion of American, Southwestern, and international flavors." It is this fusion which generates a delicious breakfast at Jinky's Cafe.
When checking out the menu and attempting to choose from one of the 15 PANCAKE-OPTIONS (Jinky's automatically gets major brownie - er, pancake - points for this alone), there were a couple of major pros I wanted to first point-out.
First of all, Jinky's has pancake-options I have never seen before (i.e. Tropical Pancakes, Oaty Oaty Cakes, and Caramel Creme Pancakes). Between the creativity of the menu and the hippie coloring along the border, this read more like a menu of pancakes from Ben & Jerry. Uh, yes please!
Secondly, and major props to Jinky's for this: per the menu above, the option to choose the location of your toppings ("Fruits inside the batter only on request") is a major pro, and almost makes your breakfast customizable. This is a fantastic option, particularly if you're a blogger, but also equally wonderful if you're simply a pancake-lover. Now for the best part. Choosing my meal and enjoying every bite!
Besides pancakes, I was craving eggs as well - it was a long drive! - and luckily, Jinky's caters to such cravings. I went with the 2+2+2 option of eggs, bacon, and buttermilk pancakes BUT for $2 more, you may also substitute for a specialty pancake. So, I substituted for the Banana Chocolate Chip Cakes. You should know that unless asked, ALL toppings remain on top of the pancakes. I, however, decided to put the chocolate chips inside the batter, and keep the bananas on top.
I must say, looking at this photo my mouth is watering again. From the second the plate was placed in front of me, the smell was overbearingly amazing. I was instantly tempted by this pungent scent of fresh bananas, warm chocolate chips, and homemade pancakes practically made by Aunt Jemima herself. Sure, the eggs and bacon were wonderful too; but these pancakes were just incredible.
The Banana Chocolate Chip Cakes were fluffy on top, yet soothingly crispy on the bottom. The chocolate chips appear as little dots in the pancakes, but instantly melt in your mouth within the first bite. When looking at this photo, you can see the morning glisten on the bananas atop of the cakes; as per my review from Blue Plate I explain how important this glisten is in determining the freshness of the fruit. Well, these bananas must have been collected directly from the banana tree - aka the local Saturday Farmer's Market on 3rd Street - before being placed on my pancakes. And finally, the end of the meal was not capped with the button of my jeans flying across the room; these pancakes were not greasy at all, and they don't cause you to faint upon completion. As I was smiling from ear to ear after the first bite, the Banana Chocolate Chip Cakes from Jinky's are a wonderful way to say "Good Morning, Sunshine." Jinky's Cafe is now officially my second restaurant with a 5 star rating. It should also be noted that Jinky's serves breakfast ALL DAY!

The first time I ever came out to California to visit my sister for college tours, she took me to this place on a whim and I have going back ever since! A menu full of choices is just part one of all that is good about this restaurant. Add on delicious pancakes, omelets to die for, and a very affordable price and this place clearly becomes a steal. Also, the service here is great and the atmosphere is quite enjoyable. The restaurant happens to be very close to the Santa Monica Boulevard so if you want to take a stroll around the area after eating, this place is perfect for that.
